About Me

Halima Gikandi is an award winning radio reporter and narrative audio storyteller with 8 years of experience in news radio and narrative audio projects.  Since 2019, she has served as the Africa Correspondent at The World (PRX, WGBH), the largest international news program on American public radio. Her breaking news, features, and investigative stories have taken her across the continent, from Nigeria to Sudan. When she hasn't been reporting on current affairs, Halima has been reporting, hosting, and producing ambitious audio projects. Like the iHeart Radio Podcast Series "The Missionary," and the Snap Judgment radio segment "The Road to Boito," which recently won a Gracie Award for best national radio documentary. In her spare time, Halima loves hiking mountains, hosting dinner parties, and writing film scripts. After a long successful run in East Africa, she will be returning to her old stomping grounds of New York City in Fall 2024.
