I spent most of my career telling real stories about real people around the world.
From 2019 to 2025 I was the Africa Correspondent at “The World,” the largest international news program on American public radio. Based out of East Africa, I covered the biggest current affairs stories at the time: the war in Northern Ethiopia, the political revolution and coup in Sudan, drought in the Horn of Africa, and elections across Africa.
My favorite stories were those that highlighted the resiliency of the human spirit in good times, and in bad. I was equally inspired by people who chased their dreams and persevered against all odds—like a Libyan pop singer who fled conflict and aspires to become the next Justin Bieber or a Kenyan tennis player from the slums who went on to win at Wimbledon.
Now based in New York, I gravitate towards stories that lie at the intersection of the creative arts, society, and industry.
